Jonah Grant is an up-and-coming Australian bassist, composer and educator currently based in New York City. As both a sideman and bandleader, he aspires to play with impassioned and fearless energy that can serve as a creative fabric for the musicians he collaborates with.

In his hometown of Melbourne, Jonah had the opportunity to host a residency at the Jazzlab as well as perform as both a leader and sideman in many of the city’s prominent venues including the Melbourne Recital Center, Paris Cat, and Uptown Jazz Cafe. He has performed as part of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and as well as being a guest artist for Monash University’s Creative Practice Workshops.

Jonah is currently breaking into New York’s dynamic jazz scene as a working bassist and sideman, performing at venues around the city including Penny Jo’s, Nublu, Shrine Harlem, Dizzy’s Club, Fiction Bar, Winnie’s Jazz Bar and The Rockefeller Center Rainbow Room. He currently works for the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division and has been a guest artist on many of the program’s jazz performances.

Jonah is in the planning stages of releasing a debut album of his original music and making his first appearance in NYC as a band leader. His album, which will feature Ingrid Jensen as a guest artist, is currently slated to be released in the Fall of 2025.
